Therapeutic Approach

There is no “one fits all” therapeutic approach. It is important for me to meet the client where they are at and determine which approach works best. I am informed with using different therapies with my clients, ranging from motivational interviewing, cognitive behavioral therapy, and solution focused therapy. In addition, I believe it is important to educate and help clients grow self-awareness, so that they can be in tune with their own experiences and learn to identify and cope with their symptoms and daily life challenges effectively.
Education and Experience
I earned my master’s degree in Social Work from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV). Prior to attending UNLV, I graduated from California State Polytechnic University of Pomona with an undergraduate degree in Sociology, with the focus of Social Work. My passion for working with individuals stemmed from gaining an understanding of people in their communities and developing a knowledge of multicultural and diverse populations. I’ve learned that everyone has their own reality, so my concern was learning to be of service to those who struggled with their own difficulties and circumstances. Nearly all my experience has been with working with individuals diagnosed with chronic mental illness and addiction, serving both adolescents and adults at the Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) and Intensive Outpatient (IOP) level. At this level of care, I had the opportunity to work with individuals struggling at severe symptomatic levels and helping them gain the skills and knowledge to live productive lifestyles once again.
Personal Interests
I am originally from Los Angeles, California and moved to Las Vegas, Nevada in 2009. Although completely in love with Los Angeles, I am grateful to have transitioned my life to Southern Nevada. Most of my free time is spent enjoying the outdoors (swimming, hiking, gardening, interior design, and nearly all sports). I absolutely enjoy a sense of adventure with trying new things and having new experiences. Most of this usually involves trying new foods and finding different attractions in the Las Vegas area.
