Therapeutic Approach
I adhere to an integrative approach that uses a foundation of Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT). I believe that every individual benefits from therapy uniquely tailored to them and never view treatment as "one size fits all." Therapy is a collaborative experience that is built upon trust and respect. As a result, I always discuss treatment goals with clients to determine the best way to assist them. Most commonly, I aim to help clients gain a greater awareness of their thoughts and emotions to change how they interact with both. Individuals working with me will likely practice some mindfulness and begin exploring the values that they find most important.
Education and Experience
I obtained my Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from the University California, Santa Cruz. While I did not initially plan to major in Psychology, after only one class I found a passion for the subject and quickly declared my major. After graduating from Santa Cruz, I worked with children with Autism while saving money to apply to graduate school. I earned by Ph.D. at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV). My training included working with diverse populations at The Practice at UNLV, Student Counseling and Psychological Services at UNLV, and Sandstone Psychological Practice. I completed my pre-doctoral internship at the Counseling and Testing Center at the University of Idaho, where I provided both therapy and assessment services to a diverse student body.
Personal Interests
I was born in Los Angeles, California and lived there for 18 years. I moved to Santa Cruz, California to attend college; it was there I found a love for the ocean and the humbling experience one has from staring out at a seemingly endless body of water. During my time in northern Idaho, I realized that I much prefer the extreme heat of Las Vegas with amazing air-conditioning, than the moderate heat of an apartment with only an open window. I have lived here ever since. During my free time, I enjoy being with family and friends, exploring nature, catching up on SciFi, and trying to keep my dogs out of trouble.
