Therapeutic Approach
My therapeutic approach integrates mindfulness-based, trauma-informed, strengths-, and resilience-based practices to support clients in staying present, leveraging their inherent strengths, and healing past traumas. I incorporate liberation psychology and decolonizing lenses to challenge systemic injustices and consider the broader social and cultural contexts affecting mental health. Using a multicultural framework, I celebrate and respect each client’s diverse identities and unique experiences, fostering acceptance and empowerment on their healing journey. By honoring each individual’s life story, I aim to create a collaborative and inclusive environment that promotes growth, resilience, and wellbeing. My interventions are also informed by Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Client-Centered Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Interpersonal Process Therapy, and Narrative Therapy, among others. For psychological assessments, I employ a comprehensive and holistic approach that respects and acknowledges the client’s unique background, identities, and experiences. This ensures that the assessments are not only thorough but also culturally sensitive and aligned with the client’s values and goals.
Education and Experience
I earned my Bachelor of Arts degrees in Psychology and English from University of Nevada, Las Vegas in 2020. During my time there, I had the unique experience of shadowing clinical psychology graduate students with their clinical work and immediately fell in love and became passionate with the therapeutic and assessment process. After that first session, I knew that this is what I truly wanted to do for my future. I am currently pursuing my PhD in Clinical Psychology at UNLV where I focus on the integration of psychological research and practice. My research interests include culturally sensitive/relative assessments and interventions for youth who exhibit posttraumatic stress symptoms after experiencing maltreatment and other traumatic events among historically marginalized groups, including LGBTQIA+, youth of color, and intersecting identities. I have experience working in a variety of settings including community mental health and outpatient clinics. Throughout my experience, I have grown a passion with working to empower my clients to be their most authentic selves.
